President's Lecture Series featuring Former First Lady: Laura Bush

When I found out our former first lady Laura Bush was going to speak at FGCU, I was ecstatic and I knew I had to get in on this opportunity. So I called my mentor and asked him about what I needed to do to get in on this, he replied that FGCU Foundations was taking care of this event and he would get a hold of Michele. I've done a lot of events for Foundations and when Michele found out I wanted in, she immediately said yes, but with restrictions. Those restrictions? Get security clearance, don't pass the red line, and you have about 3 minutes to take photos of the former first lady in a crowd of over 150 people. Guess who got super duper lucky. :) I did not get to attend the lecture where she spoke, but that was because I had given my tickets to my co-worker because she was a bigger fan than I, and the event coordinators in conjunction with secret service said NO MEDIA at all in the arena - bummer. Anyways, here's some photos for you to enjoy - I'm not sure if Brian Tietz, the other photographer at the event got a clear shot of Laura Bush, but I was able to squeeze into a corner I had scouted early to get the ones of Laura here. I feel so lucky. :)

Tip of the Day: Build relationships, you never know when you'll need to pull a favor, or need to get this kind of access. :)
